I looked out the bedroom window first thing this mornig and was thrilled to watch an elegant Heron wading along the shore front.
They stay close to the edge of the beach and every step is measured, ever so slow and gentle, barely disturbing the water. Looking for breakfast, but with such precision and unhurried beauty. I guess we could all learn a few tips as to how to start our day. We humans and those of us who profess the name of Christ in particular, could well do to emulate this kind of start to our 'busy days'. The Bible teaches us to begin each day with an offering of praise and thanksgiving unto the Lord. Not leaving it to the end of the day and thereby finding that we are picking up the pieces of what might have been a beautiful day. That is, if we had started in a gentle way, like the heron, and then handed it over to the direction and control of our Lord.
Today I had good news and an answer to prayer in that we were able to find a safe haven for a man in deep need who had almost reached the place of no return. I thank the Lord for those dedicated people who have and are giving their lives willingly on behalf of others. When I sought to find a secure and safe place for this man in his deep distress and need, I was told if we don't have a bed one of us will give him our bed. I guess that is going the third mile.
Have a blessed day.
